Margaret Peek, a former associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences, passed away peacefully at her home on March 20.

Archive photo of Margaret Peek. Born in a log cabin on the banks of the Saskatchewan River in Edmonton, Alberta, Peek joined the Boise State family as a professor in the Department of English. Her love of literature was apparent from her youngest days and was encouraged by her family. Later in life, she went on to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in English literature and a Ph.D in renaissance literature.

Peek was awarded the Silver Medallion Award in 1987, the university’s highest honor that recognizes individuals who make outstanding contributions to higher education and Boise State.

Those looking to honor Peek’s legacy are invited to donate to the Dr. Margaret Peek English Scholarship.
